with us and talk dogs!! We welcome visitors and encourage new membership!!

If you wish to visit the club, it is best to call a club contact ahead of time to ensure the club is
meeting on its regular schedule and to discuss the club's rules about bringing dogs to the
training grounds, proper equipment, and other questions you may have about the club. Each
person attending club activities must check in with the club secretary and sign a
waiver of
liability form & acknowledgment of reading of the club rules. We always welcome visitors and
prospective new members at Kansas Working Dog Club!

Schutzhund is a fun sport for dog and handler, but it requires a serious commitment of time and
effort. There is also a limit to how many dogs we can effectively work. Therefore, while
membership is not closed or limited at this time, we must be very selective in admitting new
members.  What we look for in a handler is a serious interest in the sport, the initiative to learn
not just from club training sessions but also from books, videos, seminars, and other resources,
and a willingness to actively participate as a team member in training and other club activities.

Of course you must also have a dog that is suited for Schutzhund. There are many qualities
inherent in the ideal dog. He is a friendly, good natured, family member; an alert, courageous
protector; and an obedient, reliable companion. Schutzhund is a sport that evaluates these
qualities and helps produce a confident protector and competitor in schutzhund and obedience
trials. There are great variations in type and ability. We welcome all breeds as well as mixed
breeds.
